Welcome to Flutes 2019/20!

Hi, I’m Isobel, a third year History and American Studies student and the manager of the Flute Ensemble for 2019/20.

I have been playing the flute with Blowsoc throughout my time at Nottingham and it is definitely something I do not regret doing! The flute ensemble participates in numerous concerts throughout the year, both on and off campus, and last year went to a local primary school to perform. This year we are planning several socials across the year which are a great opportunity to get to know the rest of the group outside of the rehearsal hall.

We are a friendly, approachable and laid-back group who play a range of repertoire, from well-known film scores such as How to Train Your Dragon and Frozen and hit songs from artists such as ABBA to more classical pieces. I am sure we will be tackling something which will interest any flautist. It is also worth knowing you have the opportunity to play the Alto or Bass flute if that is something you would like to get involved with. Lastly, the music we play is suitable for all abilities, whether you’ve been playing the flute from a young age or have only recently begun learning, we would be happy to welcome you into our group of amazing people!

Flutes Manager

Isobel is a third year History and American Studies student. She'd like to think she's organised, but this has never really been tested so we'll see how this year goes.
