Hi there! I’m Bartholomew Scattergood and I’m one of the two flute conductors this year. I’m a 4th year maths student and I’ve been in flute group since my first year. I’ve been playing the flute since I was 8 and I picked up the piccolo when I entered year 6.

I’ve always enjoyed the laid back nature of flute group and the fun pieces we play. I decided that I wanted to arrange some pieces for flute group after discussing with one of last year’s conductors about a piece that would be fun to play. I arranged this over the summer holidays and we started practicing it during one of the first rehearsals. Having one of my pieces performed was such a great experience that I continued to arrange more.

My favourite piece to arrange so far was a medley of tunes from Studio Ghibli films. This was especially hard for me because I found it difficult to choose specific pieces that work together and also those that wouldn’t make the piece too long for us to play at a concert as there are way too many songs that I like. It ended up being a very popular piece we performed at a quite a few concerts.

I have also arranged a couple of pieces for us to play this term as well. One of the pieces is Billie Jean. You can hear this, alongside some other fun pieces at our first LTC on Friday 25th October. If you’re free, please come along to this or any of our future LTC’s.

There are no upcoming events at this time.
